Kevin Ducharme | Honoree for June 26th, 2020

Kevin was nominated by his wife, Jenny, who said, “I nominate my husband and best friend, Kevin Ducharme. He decided just before turning 40 that he was going to go to fire academy. Finished that, and within the year of finishing fire and EMT certifications, was hired as a volunteer firefighter with Fruitland Park Fire. Has worked there part time since being hired along with working full time for Sumter County Fire department. This past year, 2018, he went back to school to get his paramedic certification. 180 days of school in addition to working full time for 1 dept, part time for 2nd dept, clinicals and having some family time with our 3 kids. It was a tough year for all of us but we all had each other through it all. He makes sacrifices for our family to make him a better firefighter which in turn makes him a better husband, father and overall a better man. He missed a lot over the last year while in paramedic school with our 3 kids, ages 12, 10 and almost 3 but when he’s home he’s 100% here with us. He’s a very dedicated man to both our family and his passion for being a firefighter. Our kids and I are lucky and blessed to have him as ours but so are the guys he works with and the citizens he helps”.
